The research department is tasked with finding new principals to effectively use to improve a customer's economic welfare and the general welfare. That is a tall order, so sometimes defined steps as shown on the Engineering start page are difficult to follow. However the last and final test, step 7, is always followed to assure customer satisfaction with any new products.
The present area of research is trying to combine quantum mechanic equations with Newtonian/Relativity Equations. I repeat: That is a tall order
. The first order of investigation is to verify that certain electric and magnetic equations are correct in both static and dynamic conditions using experiments, math, and logic to validate the equations. This is important because in the initial chapters of several books that teach beginning quantum theory the books start out using some of these electromagnetic equations to prove their intial assumptions and to derive other basic equations that form quantum theory. This seems reasonable because electro-magnetic waves (gamma rays, x-rays, light, infrared, and radio waves) are made of photons which are one of the easiest quantum particles to measure.
